The Wireless Flash Drive

In this article, we will give you a little review about the SanDisk Connect Wireless Flash Drive. This device is a quite new addition from the flash memory maker and it offers, basically, all the features that are found in other similar existing Wi-Fi devices. But its major advantage is it size, the SanDisk Connect Wireless Flash Drive is super compact.

This wireless flash drive uses a flash memory as storage, it has a built-in battery and a 2.4 GHz 802.11n Wi-Fi network, which can support more than one Wi-Fi clients at once. It can relay the Internet access by connecting to another Wi-Fi network and can share that particular Internet connection to all other Wi-Fi devices connected to it.

Also, smartphones or tablets can use the Connect Wireless Flash Drive’s app to access the content stored on it and even back-up their user generated content wirelessly. When plugged into a host computer, this device will act like any other USB flash drive, allowing the user to quickly upload content for sharing or streaming while away.

As mentioned before, the Connect Wireless Flash Drive uses a flash memory, but in fact, the device has no internal storage. Instead, it comes with a microSD slot that can host a microSD card to use as storage medium. This provides even more versatility to the user regarding switching the host of the storage medium, using more than one microSD cards and upgrading the memory capacity if needed. With the microSD card in it, the Connect Wireless Flash Drive is just any other USB flash drive. Plugged into a host computer, all its content is available, plus it will charge its own internal battery that can provide hours of independent usage.

This is by far, the smallest Wi-Fi storage device that can be found on the market today. But because of its size, it can only support eight Wi-Fi clients simultaneously and three while streaming.

So, if you want a convenient way to transfer and carry your files and if you use a smartphone or a tablet with no USB port, then the Connect Wireless Flash Drive can be one of the solutions. Unlike cloud storage, this device does not depend on the Internet connection’s speed and can easily be used as backup for large high-resolution photos, HD movies, or other big sized content.

To sum it up, the Connect Wireless Flash Drive provides wireless mobile storage to any Wi-Fi capable devices in a range of 150 feet, video streams for up to four hours, on a single full charge via the computer’s USB port, and, while plugged in, it acts like a regular USB flash drive. It works with iPads, iPhones, Android devices or Kindle Fire and it is compatible with Windows and Mac operating systems. It can connect to 8 device and stream media to 3 devices in the same time and with its mobile app, you can organise all your media for easy storing, sharing or streaming. And all this is placed into a 2.79 x 0.84 x 0.45 inch small form factor device.

The SanDisk Connect Wireless Flash Drive is available on the market since August 2013 and it has a price range of $49.99 to $99.95, depending on the size of the microSD card. For more info, you can check the manufacturer’s webpage here.
