If you are a person that spends a lot of time working on the computer, then you can understand the importance of the USB ports and devices. Today, as the USB has become the standard connection method, our keyboards, pointing devices and a very large array of other devices use this port, making our work simpler and easier. And as technology advanced, wireless USB devices emerged, making all those pesky cables obsolete.

The wireless Bluetooth USB devices

With our increasing dependence on computer systems, around the year 2000, when the USB has become popular, is not so difficult to imagine why this connection method has become an important part of our computer needs. Also, after a few years from the initial implementing of the USB, wireless Bluetooth USB devices were introduced on the market, gaining fast popularity and becoming prevalent.

The main reason behind the popularity of the wireless Bluetooth USB devices is the fact that they facilitate the connection over long distances without the need of cables. They provided uncluttered and convenient connectivity, offering companies and individuals, answers for many problems regarding the used space and decoration.

Even thou these devices were firstly introduced in the USA, very soon European and Asian markets were flooded with requests for them. But even with their increasing popularity, the wireless Bluetooth USB found a strong competitor in the wireless USB and before you select one for your device, you should know a few facts about them.

USB-Wireless-Bluetooth-Dongle-AdapterThe main difference between the Bluetooth USB and the wireless USB is the speed of the connection. At a distance of up to ten meters, the differences are quite noticeable, the wireless USB definitely the winner, with a maximum speed of 480 Mbit/s. But as the distances increase and both types of connection become slower, is the Bluetooth wireless USB time to shine. With its range of maximum 100 meters, the Bluetooth connection, depending on the output, can reach a speed of 3 Mbit/s for the 2.1 version and for version 3.0, the connection can support speeds up to 24 Mbit/s.

But the Bluetooth wireless connection comes with a safety issue, as its signal was easily hijacked. Some vulnerabilities were discovered in the encryption protocol since 2001, leaving the device that uses this connection exposed to different types of malware software. So before acquiring any Bluetooth wireless USB device make sure you inform yourself about all the safety and speed issues.
