Unrecognised USB Devices

usb device not recognizedEvery computer user was confronted with different hardware of software problems at some stage. Thou not all the equipment or applications are perfect, as we all know, it doesn’t always have to be a huge issue and we have to solve the situation one way or another. One way is to call the tech support, but most of the issues are common faults and can be dealt by the user.

This can be done by having the right knowledge and can save you time and money in the long run.

Today’s technology offers us the possibility to own a great variety of mobile gadgets, from mobile phones, music players and tablets to laptops or notebooks and the plug-and-play technology is very common and popular. Everyone uses such plug-in devices into their personal computers or workstations to transfer files or some other task, but at some point you can encounter the ‘device not found’ error message. It is a very unpleasant situation, especially if you are in a hurry or if you transfer important digital data. But do not despair, as the unrecognised USB devices error may be just one of those common issues and you can actually solve it in a few very easy steps.

Step 1

The first and the easiest step, is to shut down your computer and your unrecognised USB devices. In some cases, just by restarting the electronic equipment, like the MP3 Player, or your computer, can clear some problems that were in conflict with your actions.

Step 2

Update driver for USB stick

If after the reboot of your computer and electronic device, you have the same problem, check if the drivers of your device are properly installed, if they are compatible with your operating system and if they are actually working. Sometimes the drivers just need an update. To do that, go to the device manufacturer’s website, then download the latest version of drivers for your equipment and reinstall them. Also it is recommendable to download and install their related software if this is suggested the producer or distributor. This step is very important if you have just upgraded your operating system or the mobile device you are using did not come with an installation CD or DVD. By now, if it’s not a physical problem, your previously unrecognised USB devices should work properly with your computer. But if you still encounter the same issue, maybe the spring came and it’s time for a clean-up.

Step 3

In your computer’s operating system, old or corrupted files may be still stored and, as times passes, they can make your computer run slow or interfere with other registry entries, applications or even drivers. In this case, a good idea is to download a clean-up tool and start using it on regular basis, just as two other extremely important applications for maintenance that usually come preinstalled in your operating system, like the Scandisk and disk defragmenter. With these tools you can keep your digital data files in top condition.

These three steps are just basic steps that anyone can follow, not only for the unrecognised USB devices error, but for other common issues that may be encountered, without calling a professional technician.
