I am a TAFE Teacher (Vocational Education) looking for a means of identifying and validating students using department computers. My theory is to use a supplied USB memory stick, logo printed with the college ID, and perhaps with student ID, and with Read Only data to identify the student to a computer. This might be achieved with the Manufacturer ID or be on some other form of permanent memory. Inserting the USB should instigate a program on the host computer to perform internal security measures and to interrogate the student for a PIN. The network software can then interact with the flash ram as intended, and log the time online etc. There needs to be no more than a packet of information, 128 to 512 bytes? What is available and at what price in bought in hundred lots or greater? This information must be presented to college hierarchy for approval so I need to make all advantages clear to the penny pinchers!
Many thanks, Bob Harper
